Thanksgiving Fun

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

We decided this year to go the mellow route.
I wasn't up for the hustle and bustle of the holiday so we decided to do it our way.

Tevita and I woke up and made egg and bacon sandwiches on a toasted muffin. Then we hopped back in bed and watched some of the Thanksgiving Day parade. We then remained in pajamas and watched a movie. Next was a shuffle to the kitchen to begin fixing our first turkey. It was actually really fun to prepare the meal. We tried some new recipes for a sweet potato dish and a green bean salad. Ifo - Delicious!

As we stared at all the advertisements for this holiday weekend Black Friday, we began to get into the spirit of it. The spirit of what? - you say. Getting a deal. Walking into a store a seeing SALE written across everything. For a thrifty person like myself, this is wonderful.

So we decided to venture out. We waited until 11:00 as not to get caught up in the pushing and shoving. As I turned off the ignition in the parking lot, Tevita turned to me with a big smile and said, "Okay, let's run for it". I held him back as we headed for the door. To my surprise, it wasn't that crowded. I mean there were people everywhere, but I was expecting mobs. We completed our shopping with no wait at the checkout. The clerk looked exhausted. I have to say I was a little disappointed though. I thought it would be fun to see all the madness in peoples eyes as they hunted for that one item that they couldn't get. But all in all it was fun. We got some good deals, breathed in the cold air, and headed back home for some hot chocolate and down time.

I'm thankful for so much this year. I feel like time has gone by so quickly. Our new home and new jobs have brought smiles to our faces. Friends and family have brought a great comfort and support. Being able to enjoy the moment is a blessing.

Love,
Adrianne

Happy Halloween

Marin the Skunk

This was the most intense trick or treat evening I've ever experienced.
Decorations were finally lite and the candy was overflowing our bowls. Tevita and I were arranged on the front porch enjoying the weather and awaiting the kids dressed in imaginative costumes.
Our first Halloween in our new house! How exciting!

Everything started off normal with a few kids coming up to the porch saying trick-or-treat and thank you. But by quarter after six the mob began. I have never seen anything like it before. It was child after child standing in front of me with their bags open.
Oh look at the pirate...see the angel....Tevita, please get another bag of candy out of the house...What a cute cowgirl...open your bag....Candy...Bag....Candy...Bag....Trick or treat...Candy...Bag....Candy...Bag....Could you give me a hand Tevita?...Candy...Bag....Candy....Bag...Candy...Bag...Nothing
By 6:50 over 200 children had come through the line that had formed in front of our house. We were out of candy. I felt horrible. It was not even 7:00 and I was telling kids that we were out. My Mom ran over with some spare candy from her house, but it only lasted another 5 minutes while Marin helped me distribute the goods. Another 200 children passed by with only a smile to receive.
I was speechless. I had never seen such organized chaos. I'm still in shock, but looking forward to next year. I'll be better prepared.

Happy Halloween!
